Quake

The idea I had for this map was to create a occult temple were worshipers had summoned daemons to make their bidding, but the daemons were too strong so they took over the place.

I wanted to challenge myself by making a map in two days so I chose to make it in Quakes editor as it has various monsters, tileset and is easy to use.

I chose to focus on making the gameplay as fun as possible with a nice and easy flow of the map, that felt natural to the player.

I knew early on that I wanted to have secrets that awarded the player with weapons and in some occasions a trap connected to the weapon. This also had the effect that the map became a little easier. If you had any problem you just had to look for a secret and that would help you out.

I got the feedback that the water secret were4 hard to find so I added an ogre marksman in the next room so that when he shoots, his grenade falls down into the water and the player will here the familiar sound of it bouncing on the floor below.

 

 

 

I moved the ceiling in the shamblers room up a notch as one player told me that the room looked a bit too small for the shambler to fit.
