Pirate Challenge Environment (UDK)

An environment created to the guidelines of the one week Pirate Challenge of World of Level Design

I made this environment from an old Pirate Challenge which were posted on World of Level Design. There were 19 custom made meshes that I had at my disposal.  I were not allowed to use any other assets then the ones included in the package.

The inspiration I had for the environment were the atoll in the movie Waterworld but I wanted to create an environment that felt like something haphazard the Monkey Island pirates could have cobbled together from whatever scrap material they could find.

After many years, more and more unsavory folks have been using and adding upon it so much so that the fortress has been transformed into a rugged ruin of its former past.

Assets

Challange Details

  • Create a visually pleasing and interesting scene.
  • No gameplay required. Just the use of custom assets and artistic eye for composition, lightning and prop placement
  • BSP brushes (Simple Geometric shapes only: cube, Cylinder)
  • Terrain permitted
  • Keep BSP brushes and terrain to a minimum. Focus should be on the Custom Pirate Assets
  • Use provided props in creative ways as long as you keep true to the Pirate Theme
  • No external assets, textures or props may be used in the scene, modification of provided material networks, however is permitted.
